Tulip No. 4 | Original Oil Painting
This one of a kind, macroscopic portrait of a pink tulip celebrates the colorful spring flower, with ethereal spirals in the leaves and petals. The paint is applied with lots of thick, layered texture, making it beautiful from both far away and at close inspection.
This painting is based on a photo I took at the annual Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point, Lehi, Utah. After a particularly dreary winter, seeing the tulips as the first real return of color to the Utah landscape gave me the hope and energy required to power through the remaining weeks of chilly weather. I wanted to paint this tulip in a monumental size as a reflection of my immense gratitude for the humble flora, highlighting its natural beauty for all to see.
24x30 inches, oil on stretched canvas. Stretcher is 1 inch thick. This piece is unframed.
